Join us for a roadtrip to dance with our GatewayNia sisters. Mrs. Tracy Stamper, Nia Black Belt, will be our tour guide.

WHAT

Blue Monkey

Tracey Stamper explains Blue Monkey: "...what makes a Nia class BLUE MONKEY-flavored is that it's set to music on a mystery CD that the instructor has never heard before. Choreography comes out of the moment... as do giggles, mystery, spontaneity, creativity, surprise, and a sweaty good time!"

This month's playlist was submitted by none other than Nia International Trainer, Winnalee Zeeb.

What the Body Wants

The body wants to dance
It wants to get up off the floor, and dance,
It wants to get up out of the chair and dance
To get from behind the desk, and dance.

The body wants to move,
The body wants to move and touch
And move together with other bodies,
And taste other bodies.

It wants to be up to it's neck in body
The body's tired of waiting
And resting beneath the mind
The body falls asleep thinking.

It can't stand the wait between action and action
It wants to move out into the world
It wants warmth, sunshine,
Breezes, and wet sand between it's toes.

It wants to jump in water and float, it wants to fly
It wants to feel, with every cell,
The pull of gravity,
And the centrifugal force of turning.

It wants it's energy and it wants it's peace and tranquility.
The body wants to know that it is not alone.
The body wants to vibrate to it's own voice.
And to feel harmony with other voices and dissonance.

It wants to dance slow and dance fast
To flow, to thrust, to bend and to be still.
It wants to make beautiful lines and to be seen.

The body wants everything
It does not want to be bounded
The body wants
To dance!!!

Nia is Coming to Central Illinois

THE

Nia is a path to condition, heal and express your self through movement and sensation. A dynamic blend of dance arts, martial arts and healing arts, Nia revolutionized the face of fitness in 1983, and has since changed millions of lives and bodies across the globe. Balancing technical precision with free-form expression, Nia brings the body, mind, emotions and spirit to optimum health through music, movement and self-expression, guided by the sensation of Pleasure.

Nia is designed for any body. It is ageless and limitless, transformational and effective for every person everywhere, from athletes, dancers and fitness instructors, to children, special needs groups and the elderly. With the philosophy, Through Movement We Find Health, Nia addresses the whole person through music and movement integrated from nine traditional movement forms.

The Nine Movement Forms of Nia
Martial Arts: T’ai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido
Dance Arts: Jazz Dance, Modern Dance, Duncan Dance
Healing Arts: Yoga, Alexander Technique, The Teachings of Moshe Feldenkrais®

Through Nia practice, you learn to foster awareness of your life through physical sensation, allowing the Voice of The Body to direct your actions and choices, leading to a general state of what Nia calls Dynamic Ease. Practiced barefoot to music, each person is invited to move at his or her own level of intensity, adapting the 52 Moves to their body potential at any given moment. While delivering cardiovascular, whole-body conditioning, Nia creates a loving relationship with one's own body by tuning into The Body’s Way: the innate intelligence of the body.

Nia: It's Great, it's great, it's great!!!
